Balgove Finals 03/07/2015

It was the Balgove Finals Tournament on Wednesday 1st July, and it was a real highlight to finish the season! It was the Balgove Finals Tournament on Wednesday 1st July, and it was a real highlight to finish the season! Players were playing based on qualifying through their performances in the previous medals, and the standard of play was extremely high, and it sure looks as though a busy season of golf coaching is paying off!

Annabelle Sey and Ellie Millar were the first players to tee off, and they played very nicely to score a 48 and 51 respectively. Both of these girls have played very well during the medal series, winning a couple of times each, so it has been a great season well played!

Moving onto the next group on the course, Aimee McClymont, Kaitlyn Lumsden and Brodie Murphy had a great evening. Some of the shots that were played in this group showed impressive skills that are so encouraging to see. Aimee just shaded it on this occasion, shooting a 46 score to win the Final, but it was closely contested and all three are playing great golf!

The professional boy’s category is always hotly contested, and this instalment was no different! The boys in this age group have really shown some good golf with very impressive medal scores throughout the entire series of competitions. As with most medals in this category, it was very close, but Charlie Gillespie won the Final, however we had to go into a better final 6 holes countback to actually arrive at the result. Charlie and Patrick Earley both finished on 37 shots, a fantastic score, but over the last 6 holes Charlie was 1 shot better off, and so he took the title. Fine margins!

The final section of the day was the volunteer coaching boys. Again the standard of golf was seriously high, and all the players should be really happy with themselves, the improvements this season are massive and the rest of this golf season is sure to be a good one! There was once again some great scoring, but with a score of 43 Keir Paterson was the winner. Keir sealed the title with a birdie 3 at his final hole, what a way to finish!

So the Balgove Finals certainly provided the perfect way to end the season. All that is left is to thank all of the players who took part in any of the Balgove Medals. They have been a great success and the golf on show has been fantastic. Also we must mention a huge thank you to all the family and friends of the players, who helped the groups with scoring during each round. This is hugely appreciated, thank you all!

We hope you enjoyed the competitions, and have a great golfing summer!
